How to Remove Power Lines from Photos on iPhone
Remove power lines, cables and wires from photos on your iPhone with an AI eraser. Brush tips for thin lines across sky, buildings and trees.

Power lines are the classic photo ruiner. You frame a perfect sunset, a church tower or a mountain road, and a black cable cuts straight across the sky. They're thin, long and often cross several different backgrounds — which makes them a special case for any eraser.
Here's how to get rid of them cleanly on your iPhone.
Why wires are tricky
Most objects are compact blobs. A power line is the opposite: a thin stroke that can run edge to edge. Two things go wrong:
- Missed pixels. A brush that's slightly off the line leaves a faint grey ghost.
- Changing backgrounds. A cable that crosses sky, then trees, then a roof needs three different fills.
The fix for both is the same: small brush, short sections.
Step by step with Erase Spark
1. Open Remove Object
Open Erase Spark, choose Remove Object and pick your photo.
2. Shrink the brush
Set the brush just a little wider than the cable. Too wide and the AI has to rebuild more than necessary; too thin and you'll miss edges.
3. Trace one section at a time
Paint along the wire over one background — for example, the part that crosses the sky. Tap Erase.
4. Repeat for the next background
Now trace the part that crosses trees or buildings and erase again. Doing sections separately gives the AI a simpler job each time.
5. Catch the poles and insulators
Poles, brackets and insulators where cables attach also give the edit away. Brush over them in a final pass.
Tips for invisible results
- Overlap your strokes slightly where one section ends and the next begins, so no gap remains.
- Remove the shadow too. On sunny days cables can cast thin shadows on walls and roads.
- Check at full size. Use the before/after view and zoom in on the sky — faint lines are easy to miss on a small screen.
- Leave distant wires that are barely visible. They rarely bother anyone and every extra pass adds risk.
What works best
| Background | Result |
|---|---|
| Clear or cloudy sky | Excellent — sky is easy to rebuild |
| Plain walls, roofs | Very good |
| Leafy trees | Good, may need a second pass |
| Detailed windows, signs, text | Harder — erase in very short sections |

Frequently asked questions
What's the easiest way to remove power lines from a photo?
Use an AI eraser with a small brush, trace the wire in short sections and erase each one. The AI fills in the sky or background behind it.
Why is there still a faint line after erasing?
The brush probably didn't fully cover the edges of the cable. Trace that spot again slightly wider and erase.
Can I remove power lines from photos for free?
Yes. Erase Spark is free to download and its Remove Object tool works on wires and cables.
Should I remove the poles too?
If they're in the frame and you're removing the lines, yes — a pole with no cables looks odd.
